Canmore Real Estate – April 2011
Canmore real estate in April felt as though it was a busy month with sales and showings although the stats from this month paint a slightly different picture. The weather started, mostly, to brighten and although we did see a foot and half of snow on the Friday of the last weekend of the month we had beautiful weather for the Easter long weekend which brought Buyer’s out to Canmore in droves.
Canmore Lifestyle
As most of you know that read this blog regularly I live for spending time in the outdoors, especially when it’s on either my Road bike or Mountain Bike. The Spring riding season here in the valley usually starts to open up at the beginning of March on the roads but this year with all the snow we’ve had this winter we’re almost a month behind schedule.
In fact this past weekend was the first weekend that I’ve been able to take my road bike out for a spin. On Saturday I managed to get out for a nice 50km ride and then Sunday some friends and I took the Bikes to Banff and rode from Banff to Baker Creek Chalets and back on the 1A highway West of Banff. It was our first 100km road ride of the season and it was Spectacular! At this time of the year the road has very little traffic and typically lots of Wildlife. Last year at around the same time I remember riding this route and seeing a Golden Eagle gorging itself on a carcass that lay just of the road. This year we were lucky enough to see a Hugh Grizzly Bear foraging for food along the Railroad tracks.
So the riding season is officially underway, next week I’m off to Fruita in Colorado for a week of warm mountain biking and in a months time it’s the first race of the season in Salmon Arm – a 6 hour mountain bike race called the Salty Dog. I hope to post photo’s from Fruita next week so stay tuned!
